
Dr. Thaksaphon (Mek) Thamarangsi is the Chief Representative and Director of the CMB Bangkok Office, effective January 1, 2026. Mek brings over two decades of leadership in public health policy, health systems development, and regional collaboration.
Before joining CMB, Mek served as Director of Programme Management at the WHO Regional Office for Southeast Asia, where he oversaw regional initiatives in health systems strengthening, noncommunicable diseases, and environmental health. Prior to his WHO tenure, he was Director of Thailand’s International Health Policy Program (IHPP) and the Center for Alcohol Studies, leading research and policy development on NCD prevention, alcohol control, and health promotion.
Mek began his career as a physician and hospital director in rural Thailand. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Policy from Massey University, an M.P.H. from Mahidol University, and an M.D. from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
In his role at CMB, Mek leads regional strategy and partnerships to advance health equity across Southeast Asia.
